Effect of Pilates and Vitamin D Supplementation on Quality of Life (QoL) and Mental Health of Overweight Men: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background and Aim Evidence shows that vitamin D deficiency obesity are associated with impaired physical mental health. This study aims to investigate the effect of Pilates supplementation on quality life health overweight men. Methods & Materials is a randomized clinical trial pre-test/post-test design. Fifty men were selected by convenience sampling method randomly divided into four groups control, exercise, supplementation, exercise+supplementation. The exercise combined performed 8 weeks at an intensity 50-75% heart rate reserve, three sessions per week. received 50,000 IU capsule once Assessment tools 36-item Short Form survey (SF-36) General Health Questionnaire (GHQ). data analyzed paired t-test, one-way ANOVA Kruskal-Wallis test. P˂0.05 was statistically significant. Ethical Considerations approved research ethics committee Islamic Azad University, Babol Branch, Iran (Code: IR.IAU.BABOL.REC.1398.088). Results Vitamin status in subjects lower than normal (<30 ng/mL) baseline. Eight alone, intake intervention led significant increase SF-36 (10.57%, 9.26% 15.75%, respectively) GHQ (12.66%, 10.72% 17.90%, respectively). However, higher (P<0.001) scores compared two other interventions. Conclusion It seems their combination can improve people deficiency, where more effective.
